I Quit

If you are in my industry (#realestate) and you say you've never felt like quitting, you're a liar. We like to paint a pretty picture of the life of a real estate pro, but reality is often very different.

Some stats:

- The Median Gross Income for agents in their first 2 years is $9,300 a year (nar.realtor)
- The MGI for agents across the board was $41,800. That’s 20% below the median US income (bls.gov)
- 75%-85% of new agents quit before 5 years
- We exhibit elevated rates of substance abuse, divorce, and suicide (cdc.gov)

Why does anyone even go into this field?? It's not as if these stats are top secret. Our industry by design focuses on the happy shiny things--that's how houses get sold. But we sell ourselves a ridiculous bill of goods about our personal odds for success in complete denial of reality.

The answer isn't just work harder than everyone else. In fact that 'rise and grind' mantra only compounds the problem. Desperate people taking desperate measures to live the dream of real estate riches only accelerates the journey to burnout.

What people seem to miss in their calculations is #mindset. What IS the right mindset for success in real estate? Our success has almost nothing to do with what *we* want or what *we* can achieve. It has everything to do with what other people want and what we can help other people achieve. And you can't just give it lip service. You have to believe it with your whole heart and make it your job every day to #serve. "Help others achieve their dreams and you will achieve yours." -Les Brown
